Inside: Ever wondered what happens when you stop blindly following the vaccine schedule and start asking deeper questions? This raw and personal story explores our journey from trust to skepticism, backed by research, testimonies, and hard conversations. Whether you’re a new parent, a curious researcher, or simply seeking peace in your own health choices, this post will walk you through the vaccine conversation we wish we had sooner, and why we’re at peace with our decision today.

I wasn’t always the mom who questioned Vaccines.
In fact, for a long time, I trusted every checkup, every schedule, every shot. But then something shifted… and once I started researching, I couldn’t unsee what I had found.

Our Family’s Journey Toward Informed Decisions
If you’re new here, welcome to the Landers Homestead! Here we enjoy the simple life on just a few acres off a gravel dirt road. We are rooted on living with more intention, and our everyday goal is to live more slowly, for a happier healthier lifestyle.
Whether or not to vaccinate your kids is quite the controversial topic. I’m sure we will have more than a few negative comments related to this article and our beliefs… but that’s just what this is, we are sharing our perspective and our personal opinion regarding vaccines. We are all entitled to do what we think is right for our own families. We don’t pass judgment on those who don’t make the same decisions as us.
When researching this topic and coming to a decision, our ultimate goal in mind was to raise healthy, thriving children based on our perspective and beliefs. In order to make an informed decision, we took our time diving into the research and discussing with each other to come to a mutual decision on what we believe to be best for our little family unit.
A Turning Point: What Made Us Start Asking Questions
I wasn’t always the mom who questioned Vaccines. In fact, for a long time, I trusted every checkup, every schedule, every shot. But then something shifted… and once I started researching, I couldn’t unsee what I had found.
My sister, Erin, is going to smile so big! She loves it when she gets a shout out in my articles, and she for sure will get one here. If you’re an avid follower, you have probably guessed that my sister is one of my favorite idols, as I do mention her frequently. When it comes to making informed decisions, I trust her judgement. She stopped vaccinating her family a long time ago!
However, it wasn’t just my sister this time. My cousin messaged me one day asking for my opinions on vaccines. She had just had her first born 3 months prior to our Ruthie Pearl. I let her know we had not discussed it yet for Ruthie, but my spouse has always mentioned his reservations on vaccines, along with my sister. Her questioning me poked that curious bear and finally led me to push that conversation with Jarred, my husband. I’m so thankful for that! Our eyes are now open, and we have a plan.
My husband and I never just follow the crowd because “it’s what everyone else does.” As a couple, I’m proud of the way we communicate and research things together when it comes to big topics and decisions. We can honestly say just because everyone does something a certain way, doesn’t mean it’s always right. You can never 100% know the right answer… but you can make an informed decision for what’s right for you and your family, with proper research and in-depth conversations with your spouse.
The Research That Changed Everything
Jarred is an avid listener of The Joe Rogan Experience. One day he texted me to say I needed to listen to this podcast episode linked here for you, because he had a former doctor, Dr. Suzanne Humphries, on his show spilling the real tea on vaccines.
This podcast is 2 1/2 hours long, so as you can probably imagine it took me a while to get through it. I was constantly amazed, pausing it and replaying certain segments because not only did I want to take notes, but I also just couldn’t believe my ears. Dr. Humphries has a book, Dissolving Illusions, that she wrote on the ugly truth behind vaccines. I have not had a chance to read it yet, but after listening to this podcast I am eager to grab a copy.
I highly recommend you listen to this podcast with your spouse, but I will dive deeper below on the things she discussed that led me to further my research for my own understanding and clarity in order to make a more informed decision.
Swine Flu Fiasco of 1976
The first public distrust of vaccines came about in 1976 with the outbreak of swine flu and the swine flu vaccine fiasco. There was so much injury that the vaccine-producing companies were no longer able to get insurance. Individuals receiving the vaccine were developing Guillian-Barre Syndrome (GBS). This resulted in several lawsuits.
Ironically, GBS symptoms mirror polio, it just has a different name, and the only real difference is that polio is caused by a viral infection, while GBS is claimed to be an autoimmune disorder triggered by a previous infection. Does that not sound like they are one in the same to you? It’s just given a new name once it enters into a different phase/time frame of the illness.
The vaccine program was ultimately suspended due to public outcry and concerns about GBS. So they went to the government, and they said we need you to indemnify us, and they did. So, the government absorbed all the lawsuit cases that happened as a result.
The National Child Vaccine Injury Act
Following the Swine Flu fiasco in 1976, The National Child Vaccine Injury Act (NCVIA) was passed in 1986 after a notable increase in pertussis cases, because there were so many lawsuits happening because of the diphtheria pertussis tetanus vaccine (DTP) vaccine that, again, the vaccine companies couldn’t continue to go on the way they were because they were being sued so much and a new study was launched to investigate a potential link to Sudden Infant Death (SIDS) and the DTP vaccine. Once they became indemnified, they started to experiment more and not worry so much about negative outcomes because they no longer suffered repercussions.
If a study is being launched to investigate why so many babies are “randomly” dying after receiving a shot that is supposed to “help” them if they ever catch a virus all of the sudden, I’d much rather forgo that particular shot. I would choose a healthy lifestyle to build my child’s immune system naturally and take a chance with the virus it’s supposed to prevent, if they actually ever get it.
The National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program of 1986
Alongside the NCVIA, the National Vaccine Injury Compensation Program (VICP) was established. This program provides a no-fault alternative to traditional litigation for individuals injured by certain covered vaccines. The VICP aims to compensate individuals for vaccine-related injuries or deaths. The VICP is funded through taxes on vaccines and its whole purpose was to prevent lawsuits from driving vaccine manufacturers out of the market.
So, to me, this is saying you or your child may get sick or die, but we will pay you for it with the money you already spend on taxes. The sad part is, I looked up the average payout for these cases and it’s only between $1,000-$5,500, with a majority being $4,000 and one outlier of $370,000. $4,000 for my child’s life? Read the fine print when you are signing a waiver for the vaccines.
Furthermore, Dr. Suzanne Humphries states in the podcast “Not only did it make the vaccine companies very, very wealthy and indemnify, but as you alluded to just a minute ago, the creativity of the vaccine companies expanded. So, after that, they could add different, what we call adjuvants, things that stimulate the immune system, so the vaccine works better.”
The Power of Breastfeeding, Natures Vaccine
What I really love is how Dr. Humphries goes into the importance of breastfeeding and its benefits. She says, “The purpose of breastfeeding, which is part of the blueprint for humanity and every other mammal, is that the mother is able to introduce antigens in the world to her baby, through her own breast, and things that she’s been eating and breathing in, and then the baby’s able to develop tolerance.”
We are full time nursing in our home, at least until the age of 1, perhaps 2 with our newest baby. I was not able to nurse for my oldest child, as he was born in respiratory failure and needed surgery within 48 hours of being born, and I was just very young and overwhelmed by it all. My oldest child has received all vaccines up until this point, he is 13. Our 2-year-old has received all vaccines up until this point as well, but I nursed him until he was 1.
I asked google “What is the purpose of vaccines?” and here was the response: “The purpose of vaccines is to prevent infectious diseases by stimulating the body’s immune system to recognize and fight off specific pathogens. Vaccines introduce a weakened or inactive form of a pathogen, such as a virus or bacterium, into the body. This allows the immune system to develop immunity without causing the full-blown disease. This process helps protect individuals from future infections with the same pathogen. ” So here is my question, why go through all of that if they are already receiving antigens through my breastmilk? Why risk giving my child a vaccine when vaccines have historically been known to be unsafe and cause injury or DEATH?
Do Vaccines Prevent You from Getting Infected?
Here is a direct quote from Dr. Suzanne Humphries on the podcast that really had me questioning things and putting two and two together, “There’s no saline placebo because the few studies that exist with saline placebos show how bad the vaccine actually is and how it makes you not only not respond to the disease when it comes around, but more susceptible to it in many cases.“
People always blame the unvaccinated for getting them sick, but that doesn’t really make sense, does it? Just because you are vaccinated, doesn’t mean you cannot contract the disease or virus. Who can really say who gave it to who? We learned this from the Covid vaccine… make it make sense.
Stories That Hit Home: Testimonies We Couldn’t Ignore
As I’m sure you probably already know, because I started diving in on vaccines and whether or not to give them to my children, I hit that algorithm. All of the sudden I was seeing so many reels and posts from families sharing their stories on how vaccines negatively impacted their families lives and their children’s lives.
I know you can’t always believe what you see and hear on social media… but there are so many of them. Someone’s story would pop up, and it would tug at me, and I would stalk their page like a detective to try and find all of the answers to the questions I had, and to see if there was any light at the end of the tunnel for their misery. I know I’m not the only one who does this!
The funny thing? I posted something with the word “Vaccine” in it, my content got kicked from the algorithm and I was silently shadow banned, my reach was little to nothing all of the sudden. There are certain keywords you use on social media that flag the system and silently make you…. silent. Why can’t we talk about vaccines? Something is fishy there.
Real People, Real Stories, Real Lawsuits
I wanted to give you an example of some to watch or look into their story, so I’ve linked a few below for you with a brief description of their particular issue with vaccines.
- Noah Foley: “Age 11 when he received only one Gardasil shot. The next two years of his life would be spent battling the autoimmune injuries he suffered after getting the HPV vaccine. He ultimately succumbed to the injuries and became brain dead shortly before he passed away at the age of 13.” Click here to see his story on social media
- Through Noah’s story, I was turned to Wisner Baum’s (Law firm) website that provides several tragic stories and lawsuits regarding the Gardasil Vaccine.
- After finding Wisner Baum’s website, I searched for more law firms who displayed their cases. I came across MCT Laws website that lists out it’s cases for the public to view.
Stories like this get brushed aside all the time, the system is so corrupt they won’t let these stories hit mainstream media because they can’t risk anymore people questioning vaccines and not buying into them. These stories are really so powerful, powerful enough to make us reconsider if they truly are necessary or worth the risk in our home.
In preparation for this article, I also reached out to my social media following to ask whether or not they vaccinated their children and why. I received a lot of interesting feedback, I have it linked here if you are interested to read more.
Families Who Changed Course
As I previously mentioned, my cousin asked for my opinion on vaccines and at the time I had to tell her we hadn’t really had that discussion yet. I mentioned my sister to her and told her I would get back to her, but we were skeptical ourselves.
Well, I checked back in with her a few weeks later and she let me know they had made the decision not to vaccinate after doing their own research. She stated she had talked to another mama who lives on the homestead and tends to lead a more natural way of life. The woman had 7 children and of those children, some were vaccinated and some were not. She explained that in the beginning of her motherhood journey she vaccinated as it was something everyone just does, however, for her younger children they had researched and made the decision not to. They are able to see a difference in their children who were vaccinated and who are not. The vaccinated children have underlying health issues while the unvaccinated don’t. Now this may be hearsay, but this is not the only story out there like this if you get to looking.
What we have found in our studies is comparing children who have been vaccinated with those who have not, you find consistent patterns of vaccinated kids with asthma, allergies, developmental delays, etc. and unvaccinated children who seem to thrive.
Our Oldest Child’s Health Challenges
My oldest child, Isaiah who is 13 years old now, suffers from allergies which flare up his asthma, which leads him easily to pneumonia and he is also out really susceptible to infections and different illnesses. He also requires IEP because he has a sensory processing disorder, ADHD and ASD level 1.
In our family journey, we have made many informed decisions. Isaiah is from a previous relationship, and I was a single mother for 8 years prior to meeting my husband and growing our family. I wasn’t able to slow down enough as a single mother to make these informed decisions we do today. We can’t definitely attribute the vaccines to his health issues, because we’ve also learned of the negative impacts from excessive screen time in the first few years of a child’s life as well. There is also information coming out about the additives and dyes in our food that can cause adverse health issues. There are also studies on the differences of children who were breastfed vs children who were bottle fed with formula.
Our goal here is to make informed decisions and lead a healthier lifestyle wherever possible. We can’t help but wonder what has attributed to our child’s health issues, was it the vaccines? Do we really want to risk it with all the other stories out there?
The System Behind the Shots: Incentives, Pressure, and Profits
This article is already quite extensive. I am leaving you with this header as a teaser/preview of what’s to come. This header alone warrants an entire article all to itself. I have spent a great deal of time doing my research, and communicating with my husband on what we think is best for our family. Then also putting it all together for this blog. In reality, my blog has taken a pause for about a month in order for me to focus on this controversial topic. So, if you have made it this far into the article, thank you for being here, I hope you will come back to dive deep on this twisted system with me. We will talk about all of the conspiracies you hear floating around there! That is, as long as I don’t get shut down for this article right here.
Why We Feel Peace with Our Decision
At the end of the day, peace comes not from certainty, but from conviction. We may never have all the answers, but we do have our intuition, our faith, and each other. After walking through the science, the stories, the systems, and our own lived experience, we feel confident in the decision we’ve made for our family.
It wasn’t rushed made out of fear. It was built on hours of research, tears, conversations, prayers, and a desire to steward our children’s health with wisdom and courage. We don’t expect everyone to agree with our choice, but we do hope this encourages other families to slow down, ask questions, and dig deeper, because every child deserves that level of thoughtfulness.
We’ve found peace because we no longer feel pressured, we feel prepared.
If this story resonated with you, I invite you to:
